Isa is a Wilmington native and UNCW graduate. Growing up in coastal North Carolina instilled her with a lifelong appreciation for the area's uniquely beautiful natural environment, as well as its uniquely resilient, warm, and hardworking people. Her passion for work in the nonprofit sector began as she was living in Lima, Peru and working as an ESL teacher at a small organization, Luz y Liderazgo, in the suburb of Huaycán. There she received a powerful education on the mission, values, and operations of an ethical, community driven nonprofit. Throughout her undergraduate studies she served as a peer coordinator with UNCW’s Collaboration for Assault Response & Education Office, where she explored her passion for connecting her community to resources, education, and advocacy surrounding intimate partner violence and sexual assault. She joined the FDE team in March 2023 and is beyond excited to learn, grow, and combat food insecurity in the same community where she was born and raised.
When she's not working, Isa is headed to the beach to surf, swim, and watch the sunrise. She also enjoys making art and jewelry, cooking, and raising as many house plants as possible.
